Oh My Gosh......I had the most wonderful time at our 55th reunion. I want to thank the committee AGAIN. They always do a wonderful job. It was low key which made it really comfortable for most. I had so much time this time to actually get prime visiting time in. Thank you again for making this a very special time for our class of 59....

Thank you everyone for a memorable week in the Bay Area, with our two days at the reunion as the highlight. Sorry to be tardy with my update: I attended Foothill College for two years and graduated from Claremont McKenna College after Sequoia. During the summers, I pounded nails as an apprentice carpenter. I played baseball as a freshman at Foothill and as a junior at Claremont. The Army extended my draft for six months to allow me to graduate in February of my senior year. I attended boot camp at Ft. Ord and OCS at Ft. Benning, Georgia. I played baseball a little in Washington, D.C. while in the Army and less in Germany. I met Berit, a Norwegian nurse, when she asked to ride the Army horses. I worked, studied, and/or traveled in central and Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, North Africa, and the Middle East for two years after my separation from active duty (I was still a reserve officer). My sister, Frances Flora, died young of an aneurism in 1969. Bev Capurro, Joan Haughton, and Frances started the Cheroketts. Fran attended Stanford for a while, married twice, had two wonderful children, and worked primarily for Westgo. Berit and I married at the “church on the rock” at the end of Euclid St. in Redwood City. I received a Masters in Urban Planning from San Jose, which followed an adventure as a PhD candidate at Vanderbilt University. I worked as a municipal planner throughout the northwest over a thirty year period with an interruption for a decade in real estate and work overseas as a planner. I started work in Alaska because two of my boys had tuition waivers/scholarships either to run or ski at UAA. I’m retired from planning now. Berit coordinates patients for the heart surgery program at Alaska Regional Hospital. Erik, my oldest son leads the APU cross country ski program and is the 2009 “international coach of the year” for the US Ski Team. Bjorn is starting his clinical training towards a medical degree (MD) in Michigan. Lars is focused on making his third Olympic Team in Vancouver as a cross country skier. He starts his racing this year on the World Cup in Norway (If motivated and/or in position to support an Olympic athlete please contact me by phone or Email for a brochure svf@gci.net (907-349-4839) http://www.larsflora.com). “Thank you,” for those inquiries about Lars, who still has to compete and make the US Team for the Olympics. We have two granddaughters and a grandson, who are as high energy as their parents, Erik and Gretchen. Cross country skiing is the family sport. Berit and I travel a fair amount to Norway and other places that have snow. We immensely enjoyed our first visit (the reunion) to the Bay Area, since I started full time as a planner for Foster City in 1974. Berit especially enjoyed the other spouses, hiking in SF, the sun, and running on the beach in Aptos. The reminiscing especially by her husband became old quickly. It’s huge that the committee inspired over half of the class to attend the reunion dinner. I especially was sad to see my friend Tom Uyeda’s name on the Memorandum list; he was a true competitor and a good guy. The three days to me was similar to a movie: entertaining but too short. Upon returning from the reunion, Berit and I started our winter ski group at APU. Take care and, time will tell, could see some of you again. Sam and Berit Flora |

Steve, et al: You really did a great job. What a memorable evening. The only thing I missed was the Sequoia fight song. If I had known it wasn't going to happen, I would have offered to lead at least the first verse, which I still remember, I think. Also, I thought you were going to provide us with some email addresses. I'm looking for Art Bush, in particular. Do you have one for him? If you're not comfortable giving them out, please forward this to him so I can get in touch. Thanks. - Jack |

Kudos to the committee. You did a great job. What a fun time. I think my husband even had a good time. It was great to see everyone. The walk downtown & walk around the school was so much fun. What great memories. Bill & Linda the walk was great. Charlene, it was good to see how beautiful Sequoia was. You must be proud to have been a part of this project. Thanks for the memories Bonita Ades |

I'm looking so forward to the weekend. My daughter is not coming home for her 20th reunion, so I'm free to come to my 50th! Much as I'd love it if my husband came too, he will not be joining me. I feel like a teenager again thinking about our times at Sequoia. Thanks to all the hard working committee, it will be great fun! Karen

Hi folks, this is Dolores English (Garcia), thanks very much for the invite and information about the 50th class reunion. I can not make it. It seems like everytime there is a reunion, my husband and I are catching a flight somewhere.
I truly can not imagine anyone, well maybe just one person who could remember me. I was learning english during my short time in high school, the truth is that I could hardly be understood back then. I do remember Steve and Yoshi, I think I shared a class with them.
By the way, I dont see Steve Hull's name on the list, what happened to him?
All my best to you and have a great weekend!
Dolores English
